Those who read with the Tarot of the Cat People cards or Tarot of Pagan Cats will love this Cat Moods tarot bag design, one of the many cat themed Tarot bags we carry.
Coy, aloof, playful, prissy, even grumpy cats — felines of many moods grace the light blue plaid fabric for this tarot bag. Each has an attitude depicted clearly on his or her face. Do you recognize a bit of your own cat's personality in the expressions here? We certainly do! Of course, almost any cat or animal themed deck could live quite comfortably in this lovely bag. These colors are found in all the cat decks that we've seen.
The housecats featured on this bag are similar to those seen gracing the cards of some fantastic Tarot decks, such as:
- Mystical Cats Tarot by Lunaea Weatherstone and Mickie Mueller
- Tarot of Pagan Cats by Magdelina Messida and Lola Airaghi
- Black Cats Tarot by Maria Kurarai
- Cat's Eye Tarot by Debra Givin, DVM
- Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall
- Medieval Cat Tarot by Gina M. Pace and Lawrence Teng
The earliest civilizations saw the link between felines and females. Early agricultural communities created images of a priestess or Goddess with great cats – lionesses and female cheetahs – on either side. To the ancient Egyptians the cat was considered sacred to the great moon Goddess, Bastet. In classical Rome, cats were sacred to Diana, another Lunar Goddess.
Long associated with women's mysteries, cats are considered guardians of the home and symbols of domestic fertility. The Norse Goddess of fertility, Freyja, rode in a chariot drawn by a large cat, an example of the cat as a symbol of abundance and fecundity.
